Ah, reminiscing on beautiful comments like that makes you wanna read it and weep. With joy, that is! Gone are those spammy gems that we all just grew to live with up in here. And about time too. As the Steem blockchain is gradually transforming into an entirely new beast altogether...
The highly anticipated HF20 has come and gone. And we now have a slightly altered system to get used to once more. Though nothing that requires a degree in rocket science to figure out, I hope you'll agree. The new model of "pay to play" (as people have aptly put it) is in place. So, without going into the mechanics of how it all actually works, what are my thoughts on this?
Well, I'd start by saying one step further to a fairer and more structured system for the future. Of course, this comes at a price, in terms of the amount of "usability" somebody starting out will have (or those with little Steem Power). But, the way I see it, the pros do outweigh the cons. For instance, spam has literally been obliterated, meaning less clogging up of unnecessary bandwidth slowing down the system. Huge plus point right there. It also has the added advantage of making "holding" SP that bit more desirable. After all (and this is the part many don't fully get a grasp of), we are all in this together. There is no winner or loser as such. Just a set of past actions that have brought us regular users to where we stand today, in regards to our account.
So, I also urge you, to work "with" the Steem Inc. team on this and not against them. Change is always met with resistance. It's an integral part of the way we humans behave. And an unfortunate trait it is too, on many an occasion. Anything that deviates from the norm is automatically seen as "bad", yet the very fact we even made it as a species was all because of our distant ancestors thinking out of the box and innovating to survive. Just let that sink in for a minute.
I feel in about a years time from now, the Steem blockchain will be unrecognisable from what it is today. Steemit would be considered just another in a plethora of Dapps enjoying the advantages of the Steem blockchain. If Steemit is even around anymore in its current iteration! There is a much bigger picture at play here. Dwarfing you or I. Far exceeding our precious little blogs that we like to place so much protective emphasis on. Keep a firm focus on that future prospect and the trivialities of a meagre "5-day" wait window until the system auto-corrects itself, will seem almost non-existent.
I'd also like to make a quick mention of all the negative posts that surfaced whilst this all-in-all "successful" hard fork took place a few days back. Don't get suckered into the BS. It's interesting that a few key names like to rile up the masses by spewing hate and venom about how Steem is dying or and the team are trying to scam us, whilst at the same time hedging their bets by hanging onto the "large stake" they continually have sitting in their wallets. If it really was so bad, wouldn't these howling naysayers have shovelled out whatever they could by now, before the imminent price crash to zero? Who do you think will be laughing all the way to the bank when Steem skyrockets in value and those individuals who followed their advice are left scratching their heads as to "what happened"? Again, it helps to look at the bigger picture and train your mind to consistently keep that as the overall main goal.
I wish for none of you to ever leave this platform. Even the haters. After all, Steem will flourish more given the size of the community as a whole. There is literally no point if it's just whale on whale action. And if buying some Steem is a way to gain more access to the features of this blockchain, then so be it! Don't fight it! Belief plays a key factor here and if you really do envision this eco-system hitting the potential heights that so many others do, that's money well invested for your future on the platform.
So, in regards to this new direction Steem is taking, you can simply "deal" with it. Or you can choose to "embrace" it. That decision falls on your shoulders alone. However, look at all the hard facts closely before arriving at a final judgement and ask yourself...
Do I want to be on-board this train too?
