In the social media orbit 💫, a great deal has been going on recently. There is a massive realization that, we, the users of social media platforms, have been screwed for so long by the owners of these platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, etc.

We create time for their apps, subscribe to use it, spend hours creating contents, generating billions for them and at the end of the day, we gain nothing. Not even a dime for all the sweat.
That's terribly unjust!

This explains why there has been so much active innovations and applications of new concepts in developing better social media platforms that can reward users for interactions.

The very first one I heard of was Steemit, which is an hybrid of Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, etc. It is a decentralized social media platform that rewards users for adding value to the community. These values include posting original and invaluable contents, supporting other users and generally interacting with others in the community. On Steemit, everyone has a space - there's something for everyone.
While some would write about cryptos, others can blog about photography, food, automobiles, travel, history, relationships, wealth, etc. If you can't do any of these, then you can earn by interacting with other people's contents.
By the way, there's a twist. If you are joining just for the money, well...you'll get it but you'll not enjoy the fullness of what Steemit has to offer. However, if you believe Steemit is the first shoot of something new, real, true, rewarding and rare in the online world, then invest in it and help build a better world 🌍.
Fortunately, Steemit is still in beta phase. This is a sure indicator that lots of serious innovative work are ongoing to make the platform better than ever. Currently, it has lots of great features not seen in many platforms. For example, users can toggle between night/daytime view. This protects the eyes and enhance interaction.
Also, Steemit is a decentralized platform which implies that no one person nor country or even organizations can shut it down. Isn't that awesomely awesome?
In addition to the aforementioned advantages, Steemit does not support plagiarism. There are numerous robots positioned to expose plagiarized contents. Of course, you can borrow ideas from people's work but you have to give credits to them!
Apart from Steemit, other apps have been birthed with similar motives. I will briefly list and describe them a bit. You're advised to ask Google for more information.

Steepshot:
This app has a sort of synchroneity with Steemit. It's somewhat like Instagram because it gives space just for few words and works better for pictures (photographic representations). If you're a Steemian, getting on Steepshot would be easier.

SoLa:
The idea of SoLa is to create a community where users have more voice unlike what happens in conventional media platforms. The contents are majorly photographic where users can either IGNORE or ENDORSE them. Images that are endorsed earns more SoLa coins.
