So today I have came again with a new blog and today I am going to share the recipe of Pakistani and Indian comfort food with you all and the name of this dish is daal chawal. By the way guys, you all gave me a lot of support on my BBQ post, thank you so much for that, it means a lot to me. Now without wasting much time let’s start making this delicious dish.
Ingredients needed
2 cups daal
5 cups rice
Onion
Garlic
Green chili
Coriander leaves
Ghee
Cumin
Salt
Red chili powder
Crushed red chili
Garam masala
Dried fenugreek
Tomato paste
Daal recipe
First I will share the daal recipe. To make daal, I took 2 cups daal, 1 cup yellow daal and 1 cup red daal, and then washed it well. After washing, add water in it and cut 1 medium onion and 3 pieces of garlic and add them in it. And also add 1 table spoon red chili powder.
Now cook it on medium flame until it becomes soft. Cook it until the daal becomes soft and add water according to your need. Now when the daal becomes soft and the water dries a little, then turn off the flame.
Preparing tarka
Now let’s start making the spicy tarka because of which our daal becomes spicy and very delicious. To make the tarka, add oil in a pan and then grate half garlic and add it in the oil. After adding it, add 3–4 green chilies in the pan.
Now add spices in it like 2 tablespoons salt, 2 tablespoons red chili powder, 2 tablespoons crushed red chili, 1 tablespoon garam masala and 2 tablespoons dried fenugreek. After adding these spices, also add 1 tablespoon tomato paste.
Now add this tarka into the daal. And this way the daal will be ready. At the end add coriander leaves on top of it.
White rice recipe
Now let’s make white rice. To make rice, first I added 5 cups rice in a pot. Then add enough water so the rice becomes soft and no water remains. Now add 2 tablespoons salt, 2 tablespoons cumin and 1 big spoon ghee in it. Now cook it on medium flame until the rice becomes soft properly. And at the end cook it for 10 minutes on low flame too. And this way our white rice is also ready.
Final result
