Ramses is the son of Seti first of the name and Touya. He had several women including Nefertari, to whom he built a temple just for her: the temple of Abu Simbel, iset the beautiful, his second wife, a Hittite prayer to seal a pact of peace and full of other unknown women.Personnellement I am a great admirer of Ramses, he is for me an idol. He is a man of peace but also a great warrior.Ramsès 2 died around 1236 BC at the age of about 92 years and after a long reign of 67 years!
The family of Ramses II
Ramses II had two wives: Nefertari; then after the death of it Isisnefret. However, we can assume (and even affirm) that Ramses loved his 1st wife since it is present on all the monuments built under the reign of Ramses II.The family of Ramses was not intended to ascend the throne from Egypt because it is not of Pharaonic descent, it is even probable that it originates from Hyksos strain. Indeed the family comes from the region of Avaris which was the capital of the occupants, it venerates the same gods as the warriors subjected by Amosis, (The god Seth), Studies done on the mummy of Ramsés tend to demonstrate that was either blond or red (something extremely rare among Egyptians), moreover its size and physical appearance does not approach the Egyptian trend either. However ramses will be born during the reign of Horemheb and it is the Pharaoh himself who will choose the Ramasséide family for his succession. The family of Ramses II is very complex, just like his descendants. To consolidate her diplomatic relations, Ramses II will marry a number of foreign princesses and will have more than 100 children when she dies! Sethi 1st is the father of Ramses II. His grandfather is Ramses I, father of Sethi I. Among his many children, it is his 13th son, Merenptah who succeeded him. The other ramses we know (Ramses 3, Ramses 4, Ramses 6 or Ramses 9) are not from the Ramses II family. He descends from Sethnakht, father of Ramses 3 and grandfather of Ramses 4.
