The king himself launched the attack wearing armor and left his elephants between the right and left wings of the opposing army.

chose to lean to the sides and attack the flanks of the king's cavalry, throwing them with their superior archery.
The opponent also advanced and took a defensive position in front of a deep valley.
Neither the king's elephant nor his horse units were able to cross the ditch to reach their
opponents and were vulnerable to weapons launched from the other side.
Meanwhile, the opposition cavalry had scuttled from their rear and began to target the elephants,
either cutting off the legs of the great beasts or taking away their riders.
The king was forced to pull back his elephants and the opposition attack was quelled.
