Every time I visit my father on a Sunday, I always see African people in their colourful dresses on their way to the church. Most of them I believe are from Ghana. When I was a very young girl I thought they had a big party or wedding on Sundays. As soon as I saw they were holding the Holy Bible every Sunday in their beautiful outfits, I realised they go to church. So I got my inspiration this time from the African people in their colourful dresses.
Fusion 360 tutorial
First, I looked for the African map that I can use. After I found one, I saved it on my pc and when I open Fusion 360, I inserted the image by clicking: Insert > Attached canvas.
Then I traced the lines by clicking Sketch > Spline. It takes a while because the lines aren't just straight. I had to leave Madagascar because it just won't fit in one. Sorry, if you are from Madagascar :-(.
Then I looked online for an African woman and inserted the image by clicking on Insert > Attached canvas.
I flipped the image first and later on I traced the lines with Spline. So many details here, I just hope it will turn out as I want it to be.
After tracing Africa and the African woman, I extruded Africa with 8 mm.
The African woman I extruded with 2,5 mm.
I scaled Sweet Africa almost 2 times, but forgot to make it thinner, as it is quite thick. But it's ok because when making the chocolate bar I can still fill the sillicone mold a little less.
3D printing Sweet Africa
I used Slic3r as a 3d printing program and made a gif of how the layers will look when the printer is printing it.
Printing Sweet Africa took me more than 6 hours.I am not sure precisely how long, it could take 7 or 8 hours totally.
It is quite chunky for what I had in mind, but it's ok, I just reduce the chocolate when pouring it in the silicone mold. I just hope the silicone will also go in between the small gaps.
