Poverty is a widespread problem not just in the Philippines, but in the whole world. “The poor will always be with us.” It is one of the most thought-provoking, and also the primitive problem that exists in human society.
Have you even wondered?
Despite having a lot of talented Filipinos, it looks like many of our fellow people are still suffering from poverty. It’s unhappy to hear that we have skills and capabilities that can contend globally, which we can brag of, but only few can make it to the top. It remains the most serious social problem that needs to be addressed.
In this platform, I will share to you why Philippines struggles in this problem and some evident basis.
Issues on Corruption
The government until now is still corrupted because of politicians and personnel in authority that forget their responsibility to the country to satisfy their personal interests. That’s the reason why we also have debts in the World Bank. It is despicable to see educated Filipinos that don’t do what they have said during their campaigns. All they promise are for elections only, they don’t do, what is good for their people. Most of them make politics as a business.
Lack of Discipline and Self-Control.
With no discipline, you cannot achieve something noteworthy. Through discipline, procedures are executed appropriately, consistent, and systematized to achieve whatever goals that you need in your life. Absence of discipline is one of the big reasons of poverty in the Philippines. It’s miserable that many millennial today are very stubborn and hard-headed. They say whatsoever comes into their minds and they always complaining. All we need is will power and self-discipline.
Having Crab Mentality.
It is sad to say but crab mentality is common to Filipinos, instead of being happy for others who are making improvement and getting success in their fields, there are many people get insecure. In order, what they do is pull them down. For this such a poor mentality that should be eliminated. I really don’t like it when I see follower of these effects in action.
Over population growth
Many Filipino are what we called nuclear bomb family. Also birth control is not strictly prohibited by the government, that’s the reason why population is arising so rapidly. And as basis, poverty is the effect of this situations. Many children are abandon by their parents, allowing them to stay in the streets, making their own food. Issues also in snatchers and thief are rampant in the society.
If we stand together as one, this issue can possible be lessen, We people don’t just depend on our government but also to ourselves, if we want change, Its always start within ourselves and everything follows including our country. As one, We can make progress.
