Hello, I'm Brandon Ferdig. And I bring along with me to Steemit a catalog of stories, interviews, and commentaries about humankind.
I'm the founder of The Periphery, a website and YouTube channel , where I interview ordinary folks about their lives and about their outlooks on the world.
From Mennonites to marijuana farmers; from Tanzania to Thailand
Sometimes these conversations will also offer insights into the issues of our time (gun control, homelessness, economic development).
Sometimes I'll offer an overview of an issue myself--as well as my thoughts on how we as a people can move forward.
Then, sometimes I'll simply share a unique cultural aspect of where I'm traveling (cuisine, worship, leisure activity).
Whatever or whoever can reveal a little bit about the truth of who we are as humans. That's what my work is all about.
One of my favorite topics regarding "how we as a people can move forward" is how technology will reshape society. This makes a blockchain-built, social-network like Steemit a fitting home for my work! I'm thrilled to be able to participate and promote this reshaping of media here on Steemit, Dtube, etc. I've been dabbling on the platform for a short while, but now I'm diving in. (Also, I didn't know about the "introduce yourself" posts 'til recently.) So here I write this from the Twin Cities in Minnesota (where I was born and raised), offering this proper introduction to you all.
Big thanks for the motivational boost I received this past weekend at @TimCliff's Steem Meetup, where I met other Steemians ,
