A microchip company named Save This Life has joined efforts with Google to help pet owners in finding their lost friends. The identification number in each of their microchips is searchable on Google.
This concept works like this:
(1) You find a lost pet and have it scanned at an animal hospital, police station or animal control facility.
(2) You search the microchip number in Google.
(3) The search provides you information on how to contact the pet's owner via email or text message.
(4) The owner receives a GPS map of the location of the person who found the dog.
