Scotland... not the place you would associate with nice beaches but surprise surprise there are some really great ones. So as I enter my second day of being quarantined at home with the plague I shall write about a beach (Gullane beach just outside Edinburgh) I went to in the summer with my drone..and considering how many places there are now where you are not welcome with a drone these days, the beaches are a great place for a bit of droning.
You'd think you would only see dark unwelcoming water where you cannot see the bottom..
..or chunks of ice floating just off the shore. Well the water is damned cold (still chilly in summer too but not too bad) but its still swimmable and its beautifully blue and clear as though you were much closer to the equator.
Of course this is Scotland so you can't walk 10 feet without running into a gold course. Even here at the beach.
I love the perspective that drones can provide you. Its certainly cheaper than renting a plane..
Writing posts when you are sick is hard.. I've hardly written anything and i've been at this for an hour .. hang on.. I just coughed up a lung .. 1/10 do not recommend..
I would ask my GF to go to the shops and get me lots of drugs but she's on the couch next to me and I think I might have infected her. oops. Sorry I am kind of digressing away from the topic.. Scottish beaches, they're actually quite nice, you could be forgiven for thinking you were somewhere else!
Gratuitous drone selfie with bored and ever patient GF.
Popular activities here include paddle boarding, surfing, windsurfing, battling hypothermia and bbqing on the beach, and weirdly, the further north you go .. the more clear blue the water becomes and the whiter the sandy white beaches become.
