That was as we left for the local and it was a welcome sit down after 11 hours mostly on my feet. The days are lengthening. Late winter, early spring sunset sky at 6pm on a still Friday evening in McGregor. Picture perfect.
We had a very quick and late lunch which took very little effort because, I am happy to report, my sourdough bread freezes well. This slice was part of my lunch with a cat resting his foot against mine...
Eight or so months ago, that was unimaginable.
The day was also, in some ways a little harrowing. The packaging (jars) I had ordered and which the courier company said would be delivered on Thursday, weren't. My butter and cheese supplier had not confirmed stock availability. And, with bread and koeksisters and soup and paté, it was an early start.
Full steam ahead, there are no photos of the koeksisters, so if you want to know more, here you are.
After several calls, emails and arrangements, the jars arrived and The Husband collected the butter and cheese in Robertson.
So, at 5.30pm, there I am: ready for this morning's market: Thai flavoured red sweet potato and lentil soup, chicken liver paté and, of course, sourdough buns. Back in stock, 18 month mature boerenkaas and farm butter for the sourdough loaves now baking...as I do this post...
Until next time, be well
