Brown rice is harder to cook and takes longer than white rice in my experience. I have written a few posts about how to cook brown rice on my wordpress blog for fitinfun. I like it for the health benefits and also to provide variety in my diet.
But I did not know about this Thai method to make cooking brown rice go faster.
- Get the biggest mortar and pestle you have ever seen in your life.
- Get your strong male friend to sit on the ground and pound like crazy for ten minutes.
Voila! Broken rice that cooks in an instant! None of my Thai friends can believe I find this method to be surprising.
The rice was added to a seafood dish, cooked up quickly, and was fantastic! It was soft and smooth and just delicious.
