I had my weekly session in the morning after getting the boys to school. It went well and gave me fodder for today's session. Got to hang out wit h@stryeyz before I had to leave for my job as she is in Seattle now.
I left the house by 11:30 and was on the road with the new door in the car.
The old door they had had an XL dog door in it, they have no dogs but have toddlers and are NOT wanting the giant hole in the door. So I set about ripping the old door frame out after removing the door and storm door.
It didn't take long to get the frame all pulled apart and had to make sure to get the siding to not break in the process.
I had the hole ready to slide the door and frame in and found out, "FUCK!" I had gotten the wrong size, I got the 6" and needed the 4" deep frame. THANKFULLY Home Depot is good on returns so I ran up and swapped it for the correct size which they had in stock. Back to the job and carried the door in and after some fiddling with the siding got it to set nicely as flush as it would go.
I put the inside trim back on and there was a sheet rock thickness gap between the trim and frame so I filled it with spray foam. I added silicone caulk to the outside around the frame and between the siding. The door handle and deadbolt swapped over from the old door and it all lined up perfectly. The door closes nicely and the locks engage properly.
I am a bit surprised by myself and having accomplished the job. There are times I feel like I am getting myself in over my head but then start the job or task and realize I CAN do it. They are very happy with the new hole-less door.
It took me a bit longer than I expected but that was due to the return and new door issue. I bid the job so the extra time got baked into it and was covered. Money hit the account before I even left, I love Zelle.
I even ended up with the old door with dog door (which is like $50-$75 to buy the dog door) and the old storm door which is much like the ones we have on our house... so I have spare parts!
I had managed to get home and have 15 minutes before I had to go pick J up from his last track practice.
Session this morning after getting the boys to school and I really need to hit Home Depot to get the order for the gate install I start tomorrow morning. I then go up to my steady client to help get her planter boxes built then this afternoon R and I will go to J's last track meet which is at his school so SUPER close.
Tomorrow will be a crazy busy day as well... I am packing it in this week for sure. Good thing my training plan calls for many rest days before the 50 mile ride...
