WHERE THE HELL IS MY CHILD?!?!
I got busy sorting a few things in front of the house and when I came back inside I noticed the oldest was nowhere to be seen, or heard. I did not yell for him right away because I figured he had gone to visit his Grampy (Grandfather) at his house on the property, so I went on organizing.
About 10 minutes later I realized that I had not heard from him still, so I went looking for him. I looked in the rooms in the house, outside, chicken coop, sheds, and nope, nothing. I went to my Dad's to see if he had wandered down there, but he hadn't. This got my heart jumping a tiny bit so I started calling for him as I walked back to the house.
I walked in the house and yelled for him and I hear, "YEAH DADDY??" which came from the back of the house. I walked towards the kitchen and he came out from the bathroom with wet hands.
"Where have you been!?" I asked him a bit too excitedly and loudly.
"I was washing my hands," he said with a shaking, becoming more upset voice, "I went pee and poo in the potty. So I had to wash my hands".
By now his was verging on freaking out, "It's okay bud. I just didn't know where you were you were so quiet. GOOD JOB going potty!"
The backstory is that potty training is in process and with him being new at it he is taking a long time sitting on the toilet. This is not an issue until it comes to this situation where I neglected to look at the toilet. I'm not used to him going in there on his own, I'm super proud he is, just not used to it yet.
So to recap: My lack of thoroughness led me to not see the forest for the trees. He was right in front of me but I did not see him doing the exact thing I have been asking him to do for months. My momentary adrenaline rush of the concern for his where abouts suddenly turns to utter relief that he was on the toilet.
