Quite sore yesterday morning when I woke up. My hips hate me right now. At least the muscle relaxer helped me get through the day.
After getting the boys to school I gathered my tools and headed up to cut down this tree.
My jackass forgot my climbing boots so had to strap my spikes on over my shoes. Thankfully it was a fir tree with oodles of branches so I only had to stand on the spikes sparingly. I climbed the tree and cut branches away once near the top, then topped the tree.
I then cut the branches away as I down climbed and sectioned the tree trunk. I cut about 6 to 10 foot sections of the trunk until I got to this point where I was able to take the spikes off. Only took a half hour to climb, limb, and section the tree. I stacked all the branches into a pile to go haul off later then cut down the remaining trunk.
Fat old mushrooms are fruiting all around the region thanks to the cooler weather and rains.
Branches stacked, trunk bucked and stacked, all in about an hour.
She had bought more soil so I finished filling the larger of her planters but still need to get the sprinkler zone run through and aimed properly.
I headed for home for a little while before then heading north to my 2nd job of the day. I had to pop the hinges off the door and lever it out as he had gotten the new latch stuck when seeing if it would fit right. I got the door free then had to cut out the depression for the latch plate so sit in properly. Reinstalled the door works perfectly.
Then the yard gate was super saggy so I popped it off and removed all the screws from the verticals and reattached them so the gate is square. That allowed the latch to hit perfectly so it now swings open super easy for his wife while coming back from the chickens. In the background the rain was really moving in and I was able to get done just in time before it hit.
I headed for home and as I came down the hill I came upon the remnants of a wreck that had closed the highway for a bit. Nicely it all happened when I was at the job so didn't have to deal with the traffic.
This was the rain that headed right for me at the job and then kinda hit the farm as it went past.
My afternoon was around the house and farm doing little tasks as my body is still quite sore from the past days.
Boys to school in a bit, then I have my weekly session, then need to go pickup irrigation supplies for the install wed/thurs. R has his track meet this morning that I will miss due to my appointment. Need to mow more around the farm and then come up with dinner this evening.
