Haciendo un resumen, mi aire inicial era de 18000 BTU; lo compramos cuando nos mudamos y nos acompañó desde el 2020 en nuestro hogar.
Era nuevo y enfriaba de más, pero debido a los bajones eléctricos y a que en mi casa es el único aire que tenía para enfriar todo, desde enero me comenzó a bajar la intensidad y capacidad de enfriamiento, por lo que ya estaba en planes cambiarlo.
El aire de ventana como que se enteró de que queríamos cambiarlo, porque cada día fue disminuyendo su acción de enfriar y tuvimos que adelantar los planes de comprar el nuevo, tomando la previsión de que un día, cuando volviera la electricidad, el aire no prendiera 🙃.
To sum it up, my first air conditioner was 18,000 BTU; we bought it when we moved and it's been with us since 2020. It was new and cooled very well, but due to power outages and the fact that it was the only air conditioner in my house to cool everything, its cooling power and intensity started decreasing in January, so we were already planning to replace it. The window unit seemed to know we wanted to replace it, because its cooling performance diminished every day, and we had to move up our plans to buy the new one, anticipating that one day, when the power came back on, the unit wouldn't turn on 🙃.
La búsqueda la inicié con las tiendas donde aceptan la modalidad de Cashea porque podía pagar la inicial y de allí quedar pagando cómodas cuotas. Además, existen otras tiendas que tienen su crédito particular, así que no dejé de visitarlas; siempre buscando muchas alternativas y la economía.
Los precios no eran nada alentadores porque un aire de ventana para suplantar el anterior costaba $400 ☹️. El detalle empezaba porque los aires conseguidos no coincidían con el espacio que ya tenía en casa y debía hacer modificaciones; además, mi J.J., ya siempre tan visionario, me persuadió de varios factores:

Besides, we already knew that capacity wasn't enough for my house, because it stayed cool, but not cold, and considering the sweltering heat that's hitting my area, I had to buy several air conditioners to actually cool everything.

Al ser de 18000, podía pasar que en varios años, comenzara a fallar como el anterior.
Además, ya sabíamos que esa capacidad era insuficiente para mi casa, porque se mantenía fresca, pero no fría, y contando el calor sofocante que está azotando mi zona, debía comprar varios aires para cumplir con la función de enfriar verdaderamente todo.
¿La solución?
Comprar un aire split de 24000 BTU.
La búsqueda anterior perdió vigencia y comencé a buscar con esas especificaciones en las tiendas, donde los precios eran más elevados; algunos sobrepasaban los $600.
Fui a DAKA por una recomendación de mi vecina y las redes sociales, aunque sin estar muy convencida porque allí no había crédito.
Resulta que estaban en oferta los aires acondicionados de 24000 split; era como una promoción preparada para mí 😎. El vendedor me explicó que los demás aires de 18000 costaban más de $500, pero los de 24000 costaban $395 si se pagaba en divisas. No entendía muy bien la promoción, pero sabía que no lo conseguiría a precio competitivo en otra tienda.
The solution? Buy a 24,000 BTU split air conditioner. My previous search was no longer relevant, so I started looking for those specifications in stores, where the prices were higher; some exceeded $600. I went to DAKA based on a recommendation from my neighbor and social media, although I wasn't entirely convinced because they didn't offer credit. It turned out they had 24,000 BTU split air conditioners on sale; it was like a promotion tailored just for me 😎. The salesperson explained that the other 18,000 BTU units cost more than $500, but the 24,000 BTU ones were $395 if paid in foreign currency. I didn't quite understand the promotion, but I knew I wouldn't find it at a competitive price anywhere else.
Yo fui a preguntar el sábado en la mañana y, al decidirme en la tarde, ya no había el que yo quería ☹️. Había uno en exhibición y, de tanto hablar con el vendedor (que era otro al inicial de la mañana) y pedir hablar con un supervisor (porque el vendedor insistía en que me llevara otro), cedió a mi pedido y comenzó el proceso de venta.
Una de las ventajas que ofrece DAKA es el transporte. Para ello, el vendedor me colocó trabas, pero yo tranquilamente acepté las condiciones. Pues resulta que los señores del transporte fueron muy amables al traerlos hasta la sala de mi casa, así que pienso que el problema era del vendedor; ahora pienso que lo quería para él 😆.
Del aire puedo decir que es marca Daewoo, muy reconocida en mi país; silencioso, tiene ahorro de energía y en su control posee distintas funciones como enfriamiento, ventilador, apagado automático y otras que ni siquiera las he usado.
I went to ask on Saturday morning, and when I decided to go back in the afternoon, they no longer had the one I wanted ☹️. There was one on display, and after talking to the salesperson (who was a different one than the one I'd met in the morning) and asking to speak to a supervisor (because the salesperson kept insisting I get a different one), he finally gave in and started the sales process. One of the advantages DAKA offers is delivery. The salesperson tried to make it difficult, but I calmly accepted the conditions. It turns out the delivery people were very kind, bringing it right to my living room, so I think the problem was with the salesperson; now I think he wanted it for himself 😆. As for the air conditioner, it's a Daewoo brand, very well-known in my country; it's quiet, energy-efficient, and the remote control has various functions like cooling, fan, automatic shut-off, and others I haven't even used yet.
Lo bueno es que mi hermano es técnico de refrigeración y fue el encargado de instalarlo en mi hogar. El proceso tardó unas 3 horas y de inmediato mi hogar cambió a una temperatura agradable y como lo habíamos deseado.
The good thing is that my brother is a refrigeration technician and he was in charge of installing it in my home. The process took about 3 hours and immediately my home changed to a comfortable temperature, just as we had wanted.
¿RESULTADOS?
¡MARAVILLOSO! La calidad de vida ha mejorado de manera positiva, porque ya no sufro a medianoche por la falta de frío, lo que hacía que me levantara sofocada por el calor. Además, el sitio donde fue posicionado cubre todo mi hogar, pero no estorba su aire como lo hacía el aire anterior. Por último, lamentablemente, por los cortes eléctricos se apaga constantemente, pero en cuestión de minutos, se enfría mi hogar y el mal rato de calor queda en el olvido 😉.
Ahora, debo sacar el aire antiguo, tapar el hueco, retirar el protector, pintar y hacer arreglos para ubicar mejor mis muebles, ahora que tengo el aire nuevo 💯. Pero, obviando este detalle, estoy muy feliz de todo el progreso que he tenido y espero seguir contándoles otras mejoras que he tenido en mi hogar 😊.
RESULTS? AMAZING! My quality of life has improved significantly because I no longer suffer from the lack of air conditioning at midnight, which used to leave me waking up sweltering. Plus, the new unit's placement covers my entire home, but its airflow isn't obstructed like the old one was. Unfortunately, it does shut off frequently due to power outages, but within minutes, my home cools down and the unpleasant heat is forgotten 😉. Now, I need to remove the old unit, seal the opening, take off the protective cover, paint, and rearrange my furniture to better fit my new one 💯. But, aside from that, I'm very happy with all the progress I've made and hope to share more improvements I've made to my home with you soon 😊.
