Ayer, especialmente, parecĂa pintado a mano.

Hello, friends at. I hope you’re all doing well and getting ready to enjoy these Easter holidays—those of you who can, of course.
These past few days, the afternoons on Margarita Island have had a special charm. I don’t know if it’s because of the change in weather—since spring is already beginning—or because, even though we don’t officially celebrate the seasons here, nature simply decided to treat us to a show, but the sky has been incredibly beautiful. Yesterday, in particular, it looked like it had been hand-painted. And even though I don’t have a phone with a professional camera, I feel like the photos turned out beautifully.
I took them from the track where my son trains, in Pampatar, in the municipality of Maneiro, on our paradise-like Margarita Island, and as I watched him run, I looked up and saw that sky. It was impossible not to feel grateful. In those moments, I thought about how many times I’ve considered leaving my country, because of everything we’ve been through. But right there, with that sunset in front of me, I realized that today, more than ever, I value living here.
Because Margarita has a charm that can’t be explained—it has to be felt. And these Holy Week days prove it. Even though the peak season hasn’t started yet, the island is full of people who come looking for what we have every day: peace, beauty, a gentle breeze, the sea, mountains, history, and that unique energy you can only breathe in here. Seeing so many visitors enjoying this little piece of paradise makes me proud to call it home.
Many believe that Margarita is just about the beach, but those of us who live here know it’s so much more. Yes, its beaches are beautiful—each with its own personality: some quiet, others livelier; some family-friendly, others perfect for unwinding. But we also have shopping centers, mountains that are gaining more appreciation these days thanks to the hiking boom, historic sites steeped in memory, and a beautiful religious tradition that’s part of our identity.
I’ve had the chance to visit other states in Venezuela—MĂ©rida, Barinas, Anzoátegui, Monagas, Sucre, BolĂvar, Lara, FalcĂłn, and Greater Caracas—and while each has its own charm, I can honestly say that Margarita is the best. It really is the best; there’s no other way to describe it. I love living here; I love waking up to this light, walking in this breeze, feeling that I’m in a place many dream of visiting.
Today, more than ever, I’m happy to be here. Happy that my children are growing up in this environment. Happy to be able to see sunsets like yesterday’s, which remind me that, despite everything, we still have beauty, hope, and reasons to be grateful.
If you ever have the chance to come, enjoy it. And if you’ve already been here, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Margarita is a gift, and I feel lucky to live in this little piece of heaven.
