At the Inn River there are several wetlands and also backwaters with Islands cutting of the water from the main stream. These are very good breeding grounds for fishes and also birds. These Islands often grown with trees are perfect spots for birds to breed because they don't have to worry so much about predators getting close to them. Foxes and other predators usually don't like to swim that much and usually search for some easier prey. That's why Islands like this right in front of us is a quite nice spot for breeding birds. But also fish like to breed in spots where the water is River is not so fast and strong as in the main river. These backwaters where the flow of the river is not so fast are really great spots for wildlife and enhance the quality of living for the region.
Some of these spots were created because of the Water Power Plants that hold back some of the water and create these precious spots for wildlife. Of course a Water Power plant can also destroy a lot of living space for Animals and Plants, but depending on how it is done it can enrich the whole region. Here at the Inn River for example the Wetlands and water reservoirs that were created because of the Power Plants are pretty uniqe and provide a habitat for many different bird species.

Another good thing is that some of the Water Power Plants already have a fish path, a small part of the river that is used for fish to swim through to get up and down the stream without having to pass the Water Power Plant that is usually a barrier for the fish to swim up and down the stream. With Fish Path's like the one I am refering to, they are able to bypass this barrier.
If you are interested how the Fish Path looks like you can find pictures in the following Link, because of copyright I am not showing them in my blog.
