Black winged stilts are very nice to watch during their hunting trips in the shallow water. They wade through the shallow water and pic for insects they find on the water surface and underneath the water. I was lying down on the ground at the shore for several minutes until the birds came closer and I was able to take some nice pictures of several birds there. Once they know you are not a threat for them they get closer and closer, especially if they are on a insect hunt like this black winged stilt here.
Wading birds are therefore probably one of my favorite birds since it is very nice watching them wandering around in the shallow water and from time to time pick at some prey.
