1. DO NOT START SEVERAL GOALS AT THE SAME TIME.
One of the most common mistakes is that people decide to change their whole lives overnight. They decide they can not stand to live like this anymore and they stop smoking, start eating healthy, enroll in a gym, buy a good book to resume reading, throw the TV in the trash and donate 10% of their income to a noble cause .
The change is so abrupt that they place too much weight on will power. Unable to sustain it, they throw everything away and return to their previous life.
The secret is to start with 1 or 2 maximum goals. After having them mastered (30 to 60 days), add 1 or 2 more, and so on.
2. AVOID THE AMBIGUOUS GOALS.
Propose ambiguous goals does not help much. For example, "being generous" is ambiguous. "Donate 1% of your sales or income to a noble cause" is much more accurate.
3. TRANSFORM THE GOAL IN A DAILY ACTIVITY THAT DEPENDS 100% OF YOU.
Grow your business by 10% or lose 10kg of weight are goals that depend on many factors that are not all under your control. However, transforming the language of the goal to one that is under your control completely changes the dynamics.
For example, "make 15 calls a day to new prospects" or "consume a maximum of 1500 calories a day" or "jog 30 minutes, three times a week".
4. ENFOCUS ON WHAT YOU WANT, NOT ON WHAT YOU ARE ELIMINATING.
Many times we focus on what we are trying to eliminate instead of keeping our eyes fixed on what we want to achieve. Do not think about what the diet you chose is forbidding you to eat, think about the person you are going to become as a result of developing the habit of eating healthy.
Do not focus on sacrifice, focus on achievement. It will make the path much easier for you.
5. CELEBRATE THE SMALL VICTORIES.
Celebrate small victories will program your brain to seek more rewards. Consequently, it will seek to generate the correct emotional states (optimism, energy, vitality, etc.) that you will need to keep on the path that you decided.
6. DESTROY THE LIMITING THOUGHTS.
It is important that you understand that this year you can become the person you choose to be. You need to destroy thoughts that limit you like: I am not good for this or that, I am very young or very old, I could not finish my studies, etc.
The truth is that all you need to succeed is in you. You are not broken. Your essence has everything that is needed.
