Hi Actifitters,
just as I had feared beforehand, I simply couldn't control myself at the birthday party yesterday.
It all started with a large slice of strawberry cream roll, followed by two slices of strawberry cake and two huge pieces of tiramisu. Cake is something that practically doesn't exist in my daily life, but whenever I do have some in front of me, I just can't stop myself.
As soon as I was finally able to move again, the grill was fired up right away, and we enjoyed various treats fresh off the grate. On the side, there was chickpea salad with feta cheese, potato salad, and Italian pasta salad. Of course, bread and a few pickled appetizers were also a must.
While I couldn't have anticipated that I would indulge in the calories quite so heavily, I did have a hunch that things might escalate. For that reason, I burned off a few calories on the bike beforehand.
My Garmin watch suggested a two-hour base training session to improve my endurance. However, since I didn't have two full hours left before I had to head out, I quickly created a workout session for myself in Zwift: five minutes each for the warm-up and cool-down, with a 90-minute block at 160 watts sandwiched in between.
That certainly didn't cover anywhere near the calories I consumed later, but it was better than nothing.
Since we are celebrating Mother's Day in Germany today, another dinner—one that certainly doesn't skimp on calories—is right around the corner. So, I'm hopping straight back on my bike to burn off some of yesterday's calories, as well as a few in preparation for this evening. You'll find out how long I manage to keep going in tomorrow's post.
