These are quite old already... 10-year-old things... but for most people, they still will glow their eyes GOLD on these.
From 2TB to 4TB things (in this photo)... they are SAS3 disks (12Gb) with about a max of ~30W of consumption per device (on idle, they are like 3 to 5 Watts). But depends on what interface you use with these (aka SAS card).
People forget that some stuff is really efficient... it depends, but some are really, really good! And even if the market says it's worthless, it's way more valuable than you might think.
I am excited to use some more of these on what I am planning for an ARM beast! Don't know when, but ARM is the best for decentralisation. Not the highest performance yet, but power-wise... brutal low! Especially for ARM platforms. Aka support for them is going to come hard!
And I am not even talking about the consumer market (that will be brought by enterprise one). There are already 200TB SSDs sold on the market. Right now! For any platform...
I have witnessed the most dense platform in life 2 years ago... 1 Petabytes in 1U
Right now, we might be 3 times above that... non-announced things.
End of 2026 I think NVIDIA might be telling everyone to start using QLC instead of TLC NVMes, just because of how much more storage they will be able to afford in a single 1U unit.
ANYhow... just me, trying to say as little as I can without ever burning myself with NDAs
