We continue with the One Piece anime, exactly episode 1135 of the anime, which adapts in its entirety, once again, chapter 1101 of the manga and this episode of the anime would be the penultimate episode of Kuma's flashback. In the previous review of the anime I had mentioned that the flashback would end in episode 1136 of the anime and I was right, since next week and with that episode ends once and for all one of the best origin stories of One Piece. I have read that some consider this flashback episodes as filler, which is totally nonsense, since One Piece has always been a manga/anime that is characterized more by its history and the background of the characters than by the fights themselves, and this type of flashback makes us understand that although the protagonists of the story are Luffy, Zoro, Nami and the others, beyond their adventures, there are other characters whose adventures and lives have influenced both directly and indirectly the events that have occurred over the years in One Piece and in the history of the protagonists, there are other characters whose adventures and lives have influenced both directly and indirectly the events that have occurred over the years in One Piece and in the history of the protagonists, so these stories are of great importance in general terms, although I have to admit that perhaps Oda lengthens certain moments that may be somewhat unnecessary, something that being a weekly manga/anime, may be too slow for some people.
Episode 1135 of the One Piece anime continues to show us in retrospect the life of Kuma and the moments prior to his physical and mental modification, which will finally give the "loss of his humanity" to the point of becoming a weapon for the World Government and subsequently, be the backbone of the army and the strongest weapons available to the Navy and the Government. We see part of Kuma's process of change, Vegapunk, who is explaining this whole process to him, mentions that the last step to complete it is the loss of his consciousness. This part in the manga is a little simpler, there are only a few vignettes where we see this conversation. But before we get to this point, we see that Kuma is watching Luffy as a young man, before he went out to sea, and discovers that he is Dragon's son. I think this scene serves to show us the perspective that even for Dragon, one of the most important characters in the work, he has a "weakness", which would be his son, which is something quite similar to what Kuma is experiencing with his daughter Bonney.
These scenes in the anime have a greater emotional background, since the anime takes the time to deepen through calm scenes and background music the feelings of the characters, which gives even more feeling to each scene and later, to each dialogue that the characters will have, thus giving a much deeper sense of plot than what can be seen in the pages of the manga. In a certain part of the episode we return to Bonney, who is already completely cured of her deadly disease, but the World Government agent hides this information from her, since she has orders that Bonney must not leave the island and therefore cannot and must not meet Kuma. But despite this obstacle Bonney decides to go to the sea and to do so, he "transforms" into an old woman who appeared in past episodes and thus can sneak and escape. However the World Government agent discovers her and goes in search of her and it is at that moment where we see one of the strangest and shocking moments of this flashback as we see a completely new ability of Bonney and is that for many years we thought that the ability of Bonney's fruit only consisted of changing the ages of both herself, other people or objects. A power that is quite adequate although at battle level a little weak, but we are shown that his power goes beyond that.
Through her imagination and her desire to achieve it, Bonney imagines an alternate future where she herself is Nika, so taking into account that Nika has certain properties such as rubber and the ability to stretch, Bonney creates for herself a future, albeit momentary, where she has those powers and thus, with a giant punch as Luffy does in his Gear 3, Bonney defeats the World Government agent and manages to flee in search of Kuma. This episode once again confirms two things about One Piece, the first is that Kuma is one of the best characters in the show and his sacrifice just shows what a father would do for his daughter. The World Government manipulates everything without any kind of nerve, throughout the work we see how the actions of the World Government have provoked hundreds of events that benefit themselves and they don't care who is affected by such acts. Next week this flashback ends with one of the saddest moments that Oda has drawn in his pages.
Continuamos con el anime de One Piece, exactamente el episodio 1135 del anime, el cual adapta en su totalidad, una vez más, el capítulo 1101 del manga y seria este episodio del anime el penúltimo del flashback de Kuma. En la anterior review del anime había mencionado que el flashback terminaría en el episodio 1136 del anime y estaba en lo correcto, ya que la semana que viene y con ese episodio termina de una vez por toda una de las mejores historias de origen de One Piece. He leído que algunos consideran este flashback episodios de relleno, cosa que es totalmente sin sentido, ya que One Piece siempre ha sido un manga/anime que se caracteriza más por su historia y en el trasfondo de los personajes que por las peleas en sí, y este tipo de flashback nos hace entender que a pesar de que los protagonistas de la historia son Luffy, Zoro, Nami y los demás, mas allá de sus aventuras, hay otros personajes que cuyas aventuras y su vida han influenciado tanto directamente, como indirectamente los sucesos que han ocurrido a lo largo de los años en One Piece y en la historia de los protagonistas, por lo que estas historias son de gran importancia en términos generales, aunque tengo que admitir que quizás Oda alargue ciertos momentos que quizás sean algo innecesarios, cosa que al ser un manga/anime semanal, puede llegar a ser demasiado lento para algunas personas.
El episodio 1135 del anime de One Piece continua mostrándonos en retrospectiva la vida de Kuma y los momentos previos a su modificación tanto física como mental, lo que dará por fin la “pérdida de su humanidad” al punto de convertirse en un arma para el Gobierno Mundial y posteriormente, ser el eje central del ejército y de las armas más fuertes con las que cuenta la Marina y el Gobierno. Vemos parte del proceso de cambio de Kuma, Vegapunk el cual le está explicando todo este proceso, le menciona que el último paso para completarlo es la pérdida de su conciencia. Esta parte en el manga es un poco más simple, ya son pocas viñetas donde nos muestran esta conversación. Pero antes de llegar a este punto, vemos que Kuma se encuentra observando a Luffy de joven, antes que saliera al mar y descubre que es hijo de Dragon. Creo que esta escena sirve para mostrarnos la perspectiva de que incluso para Dragon, uno de los personajes más importantes de la obra, cuenta con una “debilidad”, el cual sería su hijo, lo cual es algo bastante similar a lo que está viviendo Kuma con su hija Bonney.
Estas escenas en el anime cuenta con un mayor trasfondo emocional, ya que el anime se toma el tiempo de profundizar mediante escenas calmadas y con música de fondo los sentimientos de los personajes, lo que le da aún más sentimiento a cada escena y posteriormente, a cada dialogo que tendrán los personajes, dándole así un sentido argumental mucho más profundo de lo que se puede ver en las páginas del manga. En cierta parte del episodio volvemos con Bonney la cual ya se encuentra totalmente curada de su mortal enfermedad, pero la agenta del Gobierno Mundial le oculta esa información, ya que tiene ordenes de que Bonney no debe salir de la isla y por ende no puede y debe encontrarse con Kuma. Pero a pesar de este obstáculo Bonney decide ir al mar y para lograrlo, se “transforma” en una vieja que apareció en episodios pasados y de esta forma podrá escabullirse y escapar. Sin embargo la agente del Gobierno Mundial la descubre y va en su búsqueda y es en ese momento donde vemos uno de los momentos más raros e impactantes de este flashback ya que vemos una habilidad totalmente nueva de Bonney y es que durante muchos años pensábamos que la habilidad de la fruta de Bonney únicamente consistía en el cambio de las edades tanto de ella misma, de otras personas o de objetos. Un poder que es bastante adecuado aunque a nivel de batalla un poco débil, pero se nos muestra que su poder va más allá de eso.
Y es que por medio de su imaginación y sus ganas de poder lograrlo, Bonney imagina un futuro alterno donde ella misma es Nika, por lo que al tener en cuenta que Nika tiene ciertas propiedades como lo son la goma y poder estirarse, Bonney crea para sí misma un futuro, aunque momentáneo, donde ella cuenta con esos poderes y de tal forma, con un puñetazo gigante asi como lo hace Luffy en su Gear 3, Bonney derrota a la agente del Gobierno Mundial y logra huir en búsqueda de Kuma. Este episodio nos confirma una vez más dos cosas sobre One Piece, la primera de ellas es que Kuma es uno de los mejores personajes de la obra y su sacrificio tan solo demuestra lo que haría un padre por su hija. El Gobierno Mundial manipula todo sin ningún tipo de descaro, a lo largo de la obra vemos como las acciones del Gobierno Mundial al provocado cientos de acontecimientos que los benefician a ellos mismos y no les importa quién sale afectado ante tales actos. La próxima semana termina este flashback y lo hará con uno de los momentos más tristes que Oda ha dibujado en sus páginas.
