WHEN WE WERE YOUNG
Innocence was ours
We could do no wrong
Imagining we could touch the sky
Or vault to the moon and beyond
Our universe was filled with knights and kings
Space travelers and underground dwellers
Each day a new adventure was spawned
Inspiration and joy
Derived from a rock or river
We made bows then stuffed arrows into our quiver
Dirt bomb wars and building forts
Stepping on nails
Climbing tall tress
Until falling down to land on our tails
When we were young
Experiences were boundless and vast
Our awe with living and the joys it brought
Is the real secret to life now forgot
What was once ours has long been taken
Our innocence
Gone and forsaken
