Christmas Eve last night felt a bit surreal.
It was the first time ever that my dad wasn't at the table with us. Before heading to my mom’s for the party, my eldest son and I stopped by the hospital to see him first. It was such a relief to see him actually sitting at the table and eating. Honestly, he looked like a completely different man compared to the day before.
Later that evening, he received the best Christmas present possible—not just from me, but from the doctors. Around 8:30 PM, they came in with huge news: they’ve finally identified the specific virus causing his inflammation. This means starting new medication and, hopefully, a much faster road to recovery! 🏥✨
Despite the worry, we tried our best to keep traditions alive at Mom’s house, which actually worked out pretty well. I was even spoiled with some fantastic gifts, including a watch winder and automatic salt & pepper mills.
Fast forward to this morning
I was up early, but apparently not early enough! The bakery was nearly sold out, and finding spreads for our Christmas breakfast in the shops was nearly impossible. But I managed to score some, but not the ones on the list :(
Now, it’s time for a cozy breakfast with my wife and kids. After that, the four of us are heading back to the hospital to visit Dad together. Then, it’s on to "Part 2" of the festivities at my in-laws. Just like with my own parents, I have absolutely no clue what I put on my Christmas list for them, so tonight is going to be another total surprise! 🎁
Wishing you all good health and a wonderful Christmas Day! 🎄
