Well the tittle says it all. Not really a productive day at work, due to a lack of motivation. Luckily this doesn't happen a lot.
In stead I am fooling around with excel again. Fooling around with excel is more of a hobby for me, but you need to have a goal. Sometime ago, I did created an excel for my Crypto Portfolio. All the graphs and figure used when posting about the crypto journey are from there!
SBC
There are lot of excel available to track your sports bets but while most of them are usefull, they are not mine. So it was time to create a new one. I have tried many times before, and finalized some but there weren't what I was looking for.
So, today a new attempt has been started.
At the moment I am 3 tabs for.
Tab 1: The bets
In this tab all the bets are placed. Some field are automatically calculated, others are input.
Depending on the result of the bet, the automatic formatting kicks in.
Still not happy with this one. I do like to track my bets life. And for Single bets this isn't a problem, but for the Parlay, Acca's or Lucky 15, it is.
This will become more clear when I will discuss the second tab. The problem I was having was that this originally was formatted as a table, which did make the excel pretty big. In this attempt I left out the auto table of Excel and it is just a spreadsheet, which make the excel smaller and a lot faster!
Tab 2: Templates
Of course, different betting types require different input and different calculations.
That why on this tab all the betting types are listed which I do play. Each has it own calculations and if I do place a bet, the appropriate betting type is copy to the Bet tab.
No color here, because that would ruin the conditional formatting when copied to the betting tab.
As you can see a lucky 15 takes a lot of row due to it various possible outcomes and calculations.
Before today each time I did copy the bets in the betting tab and when the bets were won or lost. I would copy past the header row of a bet and remove the details.
The idea behind it was to make the excel file smaller in size. But the size was so big due to the table use in Excel.
Monthly report
I am not a graphical designer, which is pretty proven by this tab. I do try to use some different colors and try to find a decent place of the different type of overviews and charts. But that isn't always easy!
But I do like the result more or less.
The monthly reports is created to give a quick overview of the selected month.
If I do change the month, all fields are recalculated and the days of the month are generated again.
The goal is too quickly spot some leaks. Which bets are working and which aren't.
Still have some place left in the upper right corned. There will be the highlights of the month.
Best day, worst day and so on!
Still to do
- Besides the monthly overview I also want to create a tab with a yearly overview and an overall overview.
- At the moment when I am changing laptop, the one is in English while the other is in Dutch. So this gives some problems with the weekdays and the conversion of the date into a year. In one formula it is "yyyy" while it should be 'jjjj' in the other! Will have to automated this.
- At the moment it is focused on the betting type and don't have information about the competition in it yet. Probably I will add that next week. Should not be too much work. Just adding a column to the template and bet tab. Probably it is better to do this quick task today, before too many bets are entered and I will have to dig up some old records to fill in the competition!
- Automatic generating the Steem tables from the bets placed for the SBC league.
Now that it is from me today.
Will post my bets, later today or tomorrow.
Yesterday was a good day with a small profit due to a missed live bet!
Good luck,
Peter
