I had received a call on my mobile phone that appeared to be a local call based on the caller ID.
The lady on the other side did not sound like local and the phone call did not have the usual clarity like a local call.
The lady actually knew my name. When I asked what was it about, she mentioned about my interest in passive income and she was from an online trading based on Switzerland.
I told the lady that I am not interested. I hanged up the phone call not long after and did not want to continue the conversation.
I believe that I had just received a call from a scammer using Caller ID spoofing to mask the actual overseas number to look like my local number.
Protect our banking and password
Based on my local online newspaper, I understand that there can be fake government agency that direct us to providing our personal details like internet banking or even ask for a transfer of money.
You can read more about it using the link below.

We can choose not to provide any personal information.
We can call the respective government department to verify later on.
There can also be many overseas calls that try to fool us into different types of scams like the one that I received.
I guess with the technology today, we need to stay alert to protect ourselves.
Threats
There can be many fake calls that pretend to be from the police to request for legal fines.
There are also fake kidnap cases to ask for ransom from family members.
School attendance becomes important as parents may call the school to verify that their child is safely in school to rule out fake kidnap call.
Scammers may often use the fear factor to lead victims to succumb to their command or instruction.
When dealing with such a call, we must not panic but call the police to verify.
Very often, it is just another scam.
Educate others
We should share with our friends and family members about these call scams.
The fact that calls can be masked to look like our local calls through caller ID spoofing.
We often picked up call that we thought was local but it was actually from an overseas scammer.
By educating others, we can help to reduce the possibility of people around us falling into such traps.
In conclusion
I am writing this article because I just received a caller ID spoofing call to my mobile phone yesterday.
This really raises my alertness to pick up unknown calls that look like local calls.
The scary part was the caller knew my name and was aware of my interest in online earning.
She was trying to introduce me to an online trading but I did not want to carry on listening to her.
We should always cut of the line asap whenever we already suspect that it is a scam call.
I hope this article has raised some awareness for anyone who reads this to stay alert.
