China is taking the lead when it comes to renewable energy, they have build the world's largest floating solar installation.
The gigantic platform has been fabricated in Huainan, a city located in eastern China.
Years ago the province of Anhui where Huainan is situated, served as a mining region for the Chinese government. Due to bottom subsidence some areas of Huainan became submerged under water. The previous land now transformed into lakes where the ideal location to start something ambitious.
This is when the Chinese authorities saw the opportunity to commence a renewable energy project that would surpass all previous initiatives taken before.
The construction of a floating solar island that is capable of generating 40 megawatt of electricity.

There were some major advantages that made the project feasible, for instance no agricultural land had to be sacrificed and no lakes had be made artificially.
Maintaining the solar panels temperatures below the point of overheating isn't a problem either as the water underneath the panels serves to cool the entire system.
With the United State's withdrawal of the Paris climate agreement, all eyes are turning to China as the country is slowly but certainly becoming the world's leader in the production of renewable energy.
