For this post, I want to share some of my thoughts about texture and how it has become a really good subject for my black and white photos. Most of the time, we overlook textures because our eyes are not always sensitive enough to notice the fine details hidden in ordinary subjects. A piece of bark, a tree stump, or even an old leaf can look very normal at first glance. But when I take the time to photograph them, I begin to see something more.
What I really like is how black and white processing transforms these subjects. Once the colors are removed, the details that were not very noticeable suddenly become more artistic and full of contrast. The cracks on wood, the roughness of bark, the marks on a leaf, and even the imperfections start to stand out in a stronger way. It gives the image a different character, one that feels more dramatic and expressive.
That is why I think texture is something worth taking time to photograph. There is hidden beauty in it, and sometimes that beauty only shows itself when we slow down enough to really observe.
I think life can be compared to texture in some ways too. Not everything beautiful is obvious right away. Some of the most meaningful things are hidden beneath the surface and can only be appreciated when we look more closely. Even flaws, scars, and imperfections can become part of what makes something interesting and unique.
Photography reminds me of that truth again and again. What may seem plain or ordinary can actually hold a lot of depth. We just need to be patient enough to notice it.
So for me, textures are more than just visual details. They are reminders that beauty is often hidden in places we usually ignore.
Have a good day ahead.
