Today, I'm starting a small shift for my lifestyle, that is to grow my own food in a city. I have always wanted to buy organic vegetables in the grocery store but it is too expensive compared to the regular ones. Although there isn't any super special treatment to the vegetables other than the farmers are not using any chemicals to enhance the growth of the vegetables.
Although it was claimed that vegetables that are grown using the modern methods don't have proven adverse effects to our human body, many still believed that consuming organic products is better for our health.
For me, I don't think or feel that consuming non-organic vegetables is doing harm to myself. However, there are instances that growing my own vegetables that are grown organically feels like I have achieve something and it makes me feel good about it.
I don't really consume a lot of vegetables but I do like adding some herbs to the food that I cook. And if there's one dish that I always crave is the Thai Style Basil Pork rice. It's a simple Thai dish yet it's really tasty and flavoursome. And the one that give a lot flavor to it is the Thai basil.
For my first city gardening, I will be starting it by aiming to grow my own Thai Basil plant. I have planted the seed and it will take about 7-10 days before I can see the sprouts.
So expect an update a week from now. I hope to be successful on this one.
Cheers!
