So I have been attracted to both men and women for as far as I can remember, and really never made much of a deal out of it.
And I must say, aside from the few negative comments from people I don't know (nor care about their opinion) and more-than-occasional offers for a three-some, I don't think anyone around me made a big deal out of it.
But recently I found out most of my friends actually think it's just a 'wicked phase' I go through whenever I'm with a girl.
I didn't want to write another ‘How bi-sexuals don’t feel recognised’ opinion piece , but it's the first time I understand what the issue is with being accepted -yet not truly recognised.
I’m genuinely surprised that even my closest friends, who are the family I chose and who have known me for years already, actually still think it’s a 'just a fling' whenever I’m with a girl.
Apparently they believe that I’ll eventually end up being a ‘full straight’ or a ‘full lesbian’, and I'm just undecided on 'which one I like best'.
Is it that hard to accept my sexual preference is not having a preference?
And who-ever I end up with eventually shouldn’t be worried about me wanting to sleep with every one of my friends.
I can just as easily be good friends with both men and women, just like 'straights' can be good friends with the opposite sex without sexual tension.
And if being attracted to both men and women implies more triggers to get turned on by, that doesn’t change how the love for a person is worth more than all the triggers in the world.
