Greetings friends. It has been quite a while since the last figurine I shared with you from my Dragon Ball collection. I am currently making the evil trio of Pilaf, Shu and Mai, these three characters were very well known in the first Dragon Ball and were very curious characters.
The last one I made was Pilaf, the leader of these. Well, today I would like to share with you the creative process of a character that, in my opinion, is the comic relief of the group, Shu.

Saludos amigos. Ha pasado ya bastante tiempo desde la última figurita que compartí con ustedes de mi colección de Dragon Ball. Actualmente estoy haciendo al trío del mal de Pilaf, Shu y Mai, estos tres personajes fueron muy conocidos en el primer Dragon Ball y eran muy curiosos personajes.
El último que hice fue a Pilaf, el lider de estos. Pues bien, hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes el proceso creativo de un personaje que, en mi opinión, es el alivio cómico del grupo, Shu.

Step by step
Shu's body is relatively easy to make, I simply took some purple plasticine and made it in the shape of a drop of water. On the sharp part of the piece, which would be the thinner end of the “drop”, I cut it in two for what would be the legs.
If you look at the image below and look closely, you will see that it has a shape similar to the Starfleet insignia, so you could say that to make Shu's body just start with a drop shape and end with a shape similar to an arrowhead with rounded ends.
Paso a paso
El cuerpo de Shu es relativamente fácil de hacer, simplemente tomé un poco de plastilima morada y lo hice con forma de una gota de agua. En la parte afilada de la pieza, que sería el extremo más delgado de la "gota", lo corté en dos para lo que serían las piernas.
Si miran la imagen de abajo y miran con atención, verán que tiene una forma parecida a la insignia de la flota estelar, así que se podría decir que para hacer el cuerpo de Shu solo hay que comenzar con una forma de gota y terminar con una forma parecida a una punta de flecha con los extremos redondeados.
The idea is to mold each part so that it looks more like the body of a stubby canine and not an amorphous arrowhead.
Well, I started to round the legs at the tip and give it that curvature that it should have at the crotch, where I also molded a small bulge to.... well you know...
On the other hand, I also made the sleeve of the arms, which I made by cutting a cylinder of purple plasticine, which I cut in the shape of a triangle and glued it in place, that is, in the area of the shoulders.
La idea es ir moldeando cada parte para que parezca más el cuerpo de un canino rechoncho y no una punta de flecha amorfa.
Pues bien, las patas las comencé a redondear en la punta y darle esa curvatura que debe tener en la entrepierna, donde también moldeé un pequeño bulto para... bueno ustedes saben...
Por otra parte, también le hice la manga de los brazos, los cuales hice cortando un cilindro de plastilina morada, la cual corté en forma de triángulo y lo pegué en su sitio, en decir, en el área de los hombros.
As I said, it is a fairly simple costume to make; however, it does have its details.
A couple of details it has are two strings that run around his waist and another diagonally across his torso. The latter is the cuerta of his catana.
It is interesting that although he is a ninja dog, he does not have too many additions to his uniform; on the contrary, it is a rather simple outfit, as shown by these two ropes, which show that his uniform is more homemade than professional.
Como dije, es un traje bastante sencillo de hacer; sin embargo, tiene sus detalles.
Un par de detalles que tiene son dos cuerdas que recorren su cintura y otra en diagonal que recorre todo su torso. Esta última es la cuerta de su catana.
Es interesante que aunque es un perro ninja, este no tiene demasiados aditamentos a su uniforme; por el contrario, es una vestimenta bastante sencilla, muestra de ello son estas dos cuerdas, que hacen ver que su uniforme es más casero que profesional.
At one end of the strings, the character has two loops. A simple way to understand how to make them is simply to imagine some candies, yes, some candies.
You see, the candies are wrapped in a paper, which wraps the candy in the center and leaves at the ends two expanded pieces of paper. I want these bows to be the same way, only the center is much smaller and the ends are a little bigger.
If you look at the image below, this is how I made them. I glued this pair of “candies” in place and let them dry.
En unos extremos de las cuerdas, el personaje tiene dos lazos. Una manera sencilla de entender cómo hay que hacerlos es simplemente imaginar unos caramelos, sí, unos caramelos.
Verán, los caramelos están envueltos en un papel, el cual envuelve al caramelo en el centro y deja a los extremos dos trocitos de papel expandidos. De igual manera quiero que sean estos lazos, solo que el centro mucho más pequeño y los extremos un poco más grandes.
Si se fijan en la imagen de abajo, así los hice. Este par de "caramelos" los pegué en su lugar y dejé que se secaran.
To continue with the uniform, I made what would be the arms. The purple uniform is a kimono, but underneath it has an orange T-shirt, which contrasts with the dark purple of the suit.
Also in the neck I cut a triangle where I placed orange plasticine, as well as the sleeves of the forearms, to complete the inside of the uniform.
On the other hand I made some lines in the rest of the uniform so that it was not completely flat, but some folds could be seen in the top. In the image below you can see in detail these folds that I am talking about.
Para continuar con el uniforme, hice lo que serían los brazos. El uniforme morado es un kimono, pero debajo lleva una camiseta naranja, la cual hace contraste con el oscuro morado del traje.
También en el cuello corté un triángulo en donde coloqué plastilina naranja, igual que las mangas de los antebrazos, para completar el interior del uniforme.
Por otra parte hice algunas líneas en el resto del uniforme para que este no fuese completamente plano, sino que se viesen algunos pliegues en la topa. En la imagen de abajo pueden apreciar en detalle estos pliegues que les estoy comentando.
The last thing I did to complete the uniform were the paws. Although you can't see that they are canine paws, because the character wears socks and sandals, so I made them this way, as if they were feet wearing black socks and sandals. To glue them to the rest of the body I used some glue and wire.
Ya lo último que hice para completar el uniforme fueron las patas. Aunque no se aprecia que son patitas de canino, porque el personaje usa medias y sandalias, por lo cual las hice de esta forma, como si fuesen unos pies usando medias negras y sandalias. Para pegarlas al resto del cuerpo usé un poco de pegamento y alambre.
For the character's head I used the same purple plasticine that I used for the kimono. I made a sort of bowl, to which I made two ears at the top.
At this point it is not necessary to use any kind of support, as they are big enough to be able to stay in place and hold the rest of the head without help.
Para la cabeza del personaje usé la misma plastilina morada que usé para el kimono. Hice una suerte de cuenco, al cual le hice dos orejas en la parte superior.
En este punto no es necesario usar ningúna clase de soporte, pues son bastante grandes como para que se puedan mantener en su lugar y sostenerse al resto de la cabeza sin ayuda.
Next was the face. I made it with two colors of plasticine, orange for the upper part and light pink for the lower part, the snout.
I made the eyes huge and expressive, untidy and angry, as is characteristic of this character, although he often looks a little more calm and peaceful. Maybe I'll change it later.
In addition to this, when placing the face I also placed a small wire at the bottom, as you can see in the image below.
Lo siguiente fue la cara. Esta la hice con plastilina de dos colores, naranja para la parte superior y rosado claro para la parte inferior, la del hocico.
Los ojos los hice enormes y expresivos, desprolijos y enojados, como es lo característico de este personaje, aunque con frecuencia se le ve un poco más con cara de tranquilidad y paz. Quizás lo cambie más adelante.
Además de esto, al colocar la cara también coloqué un pequeño alambre en la parte de abajo, tal como pueden ver en la imagen de abajo.
The last thing I did was to fix his sword on his back, which I made blue, with a red handle. I had to use a couple of wires so that the sword could stay fixed in place.
Lo último que hice fue fijar su espada en la espalda, la cual hice de color azul, con el mango rojo. Tuve que usar un par de alambres para que la espada pudiese mantenerse fija en su lugar.
This way the figurine was finished. Below you can see a series of photographs of the final result:

Well folks, that's all for now. I hope you liked my Shu figurine. It is a new figurine that I add to my Dragon Ball collection. Although he is a less known character, he is also an emblematic one of the first season of Dragon Ball and he even continues to have a presence in the last seasons, as in Dragon Ball Super, only in a children's version.

Bien amigos, esto ha sido todo por ahora. Espero que mi figurita de Shu les haya gustado. Es una nueva figurita que añado a mi colección de Dragon Ball. Aunque es un personaje menos conocido, también es uno emblemático de la primera temporada de Dragon Ball y que incluso sigue teniendo presencia en las últimas temporadas, como el caso de Dragon Ball Super, solo que una versión infantil.
