It is always very common to find in the towns traditional handicrafts made by people who come from other states or residents of the city or town itself. Normally this type of craftsmanship is made with unconventional materials, non-professional materials or materials that you would not find, for example, in a haberdashery.
Siempre es muy común encontrar en los pueblos artesanía tradicional de personas que llegan de otros estados o residentes de la propia ciudad o pueblo. Normalmente este tipo de artesanía está hecha con materiales poco convencionales, materiales no profesionales o de los que no encontrarías, por ejemplo, en una mercería.
About a month ago I had the opportunity to attend the fairs in my city and in this fair I met many traditional artists, artists because they make art in the form of bracelets, necklaces, small sculptures, shoes, sandals, among others.
For me it was one of the coolest things that the fair had, because despite the animals, car booths and other things that are not normally seen here, crafts and art will always have a prominent place for me.
Hace aproximadamente un mes tuve la oportunidad de asistir a las ferias que hace en mi ciudad y en esta feria me encontré con muchos artistas tradicionales, artistas porque hacen arte en forma de pulseras, collares, esculturas pequeñas, zapatos, sandalias, entre otras.
Para mi fue una de las cosas mas geniales que tuvo la feria, porque a pesar de los animales, los stand de autos y otras cosas que normalmente no se ven aquí, la artesanía y el arte siempre tendrán un lugar prominente para mi.
In the small stalls of these artisans I found a lot of objects that I really liked. There was a lot to see and everything was with a unique touch, you could not find two identical garments, because they were all handmade, that's the interesting thing about this type of craftsmanship.
En los pequeños puestos de estos artesanos me encontré un montón de objetos que me gustaron mucho. Había mucho donde ver y todo era con un toque único, no encontrabas dos prendas iguales, pues todas estaban hechas a manos, eso es lo interesante de este tipo de artesanía.
One of the artists (he said he was the artist, I don't know), took two of his paintings and showed them to me. He told me that one of those paintings, the big brown one, is made with chimó, a concentrated tobacco paste that is consumed a lot around here.
Uno de artistas (él dijo que era el artista, no lo sé), tomó dos de sus cuadros y me los mostró. Me comentó que uno de esos cuadros, el marrón grande, está hecho con chimó, una pasta concentrada de tabaco que se consume mucho por acá.
He also showed me a chess carved in stone with a simply stunning finish. I stopped here to see the shape he had carved on each of the pieces and if he really did it, he is a great artist.
También me mostró un ajedrez tallado en piedra con un acabado simplemente impresionante. Me detuve aquí a ver la forma que había tallado en cada una de las piezas y si realmente lo hizo él, pues es un gran artista.
The large number of necklaces that were there really caught my attention because of the many colorful and precious stones they had, all as colorful as they were eye-catching. As I said, it is interesting to see that each necklace or bracelet is unique in its own way, different from the mass-produced stuff.
La gran cantidad de collares que habían me llamaron mucho la atención por el montón de piedras coloridas y preciosas que tenían, todas tan coloridas como llamativas. Como dije, es interesante ver que cada collar o pulsera es única a su manera, distinta a las cosas que se producen en serie.
On the other hand, I also found a lot of shoes, like sandals. They looked very good quality and real leather, not like some garments that claim to be leather and are actually semi leather or similar materials that don't usually last at all. I admit I tried on a couple of sandals, but none of them fit.
Por otra parte, también me encontré un montón de calzados, como sandalias. Se veían de muy buena calidad y de cuero real, no como algunas prendas que dicen ser de cuero y en realidad son de semi cuero o materiales similares que no suelen durar nada. Admito que me probé un par de sandalias, pero ninguna me quedó.
It is great when one manages to find these things and capture them, to immortalize this craft with these photographs, since this craft is passing through town during the fairs.
Es genial cuando uno logra encontrar estas cosas y capturarlas, para inmortalizar esta artesanía con estas fotografías, ya que esta artesanía está de paso por el pueblo durante las ferias.
