Nintendo en una de las compañías que más años tiene en el mercado de los videojuegos actualmente, eso la hace merecedora de tener millones de seguidores en todo el mundo, a su vez ha formado personajes icónicos los cuales son identificados rápidamente por todos los gamers, entre ellos están Link de la saga The Legend of Zelda o Samus de Metroid, pero el principal personaje estrella que han tenido desde hace muchos años es Mario.

Nintendo in one of the companies that has more years in the video game market today, that makes it worthy of having millions of followers around the world, in turn has formed iconic characters which are quickly identified by all gamers, among them are Link of the saga The Legend of Zelda or Metroid's Samus, but the main star character they have had for many years is Mario.

Cada vez que se cumple cierto tiempo de la creación de dicho personaje, Nintendo decide conmemorar su aniversario con algo especial, por ejemplo, en el 25 aniversario lanzaron una Wii de color Rojo, edición especial que fue del agrado de los fans de Nintendo. En este 2020 el famoso fontanero ya cumple 35 años, por lo que decidieron lanzar varias cosas interesantes, pero la que decepcionó a varios jugadores fue el videojuego Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

For example, on the 25th anniversary they launched a red Wii, a special edition that was very popular among Nintendo fans. In this 2020 the famous plumber is already 35 years old, so they decided to launch several interesting things, but the one that disappointed several players was the video game Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars consiste en un recopilatorio de los principales juegos en 3D del universo de Mario, entre ellos están Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine y Super Mario Galaxy. Por meses se rumoreaba que lanzarían este título para la Nintendo Switch, pero lo que a todos dejó con un sabor amargo es que no mejoraron ningún aspecto visual de estos juegos, esto quiere decir que se tratan de simples ports de consolas anteriores.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars consists of a compilation of the main 3D games of the Mario universe, among them are Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. For months it was rumored that they would release this title for the Nintendo Switch, but what left everyone with a bitter taste is that they did not improve any visual aspect of these games, this means that they are simple ports of previous consoles.

Si nos vamos al año 1993, Nintendo realizó algo muy similar para la Super Nintendo, un recopilatorio llamado Super Mario All-Stars donde incluyó todos los juegos de Super Mario de dicha época, pero con la peculiaridad de rehacerlos nuevamente, incluyendo nuevos sprites, una música totalmente renovada y otras características más, esto de cierta forma causa un efecto de refrescamiento e interés para el usuario, ya que está jugando un videojuego antiguo, pero con gráficos y músicas actualizadas.

Actualmente varias compañías han puesto esto en práctica, un claro ejemplo es Activision, quienes realizaron el famoso Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, un recopilatorio de los tres juegos principales de Crash Bandicoot, pero rehicieron todo el contenido del juego, respetando la jugabilidad que tenía en antaño, lo mismo podemos decir de Spyro Reignited Trilogy, el cual fue un excelente trabajo.

Esto hace que muchos se pregunten ¿Por qué Nintendo no puede hacer esto? Personalmente no tengo ninguna respuesta coherente, ellos tienen la capacidad de poder rehacer cada uno de estos videojuegos, pero por alguna razón no decidieron hacerlo, ni lo intentaron con Super Mario 64, algo que muchos fans han podido hacer en un lapso de tiempo muy corto.

This makes many people wonder why Nintendo can't do this. Personally I don't have any coherent answer, they have the capacity to be able to remake each one of these video games, but for some reason they didn't decide to do it, nor did they try it with Super Mario 64, something that many fans have been able to do in a very short period of time.

Ahora nos enfocaremos en lo que considero más grave, el precio y su estrategia de marketing. Super Mario 3D All-Stars cuesta 60 dólares, tanto en su versión digital como física, algo que lo considero realmente exagerado, teniendo en cuenta de que se trata de videojuegos viejos sin ningún tipo de mejoras, además existirán versiones limitadas para la versión física y un tiempo límite para comprarlo en su tienda online, una estrategia que Nintendo ya viene practicando desde hace tiempo.

We will now focus on what I consider to be the most serious, price and your marketing strategy. Super Mario 3D All-Stars costs 60 dollars, both in its digital and physical version, something that I consider really exaggerated, taking into account that these are old video games without any kind of improvements, in addition there will be limited versions for the physical version and a time limit to buy it in their online store, a strategy that Nintendo has been practicing for some time.

Considero que Nintendo está jugando con el factor nostalgia en sus relanzamientos, no hay nada de malo en ver los títulos de antaño en su consola actual (Nintendo Switch), pero pueden hacer un poco de esfuerzo en rehacer los videojuegos o agregarles un poco de contenido, de esa manera se puede “justificar” su elevado precio.

I consider that Nintendo is playing with the nostalgia factor in their relaunches, there is nothing wrong with seeing the old titles in their current console (Nintendo Switch), but they can make a little effort to remake the games or add a little content to them, that way they can "justify" their high price.

A pesar de todo lo anteriormente dicho, los fanáticos y otros jugadores comprarán dicho videojuego sin importarles su contenido, es aquí cuando nos damos cuenta de que una simple imagen de un personaje icónico de Nintendo puede vender cualquier cosa.

Despite all the above, fans and other players will buy such a video game regardless of its content, this is when we realize that a simple image of an iconic Nintendo character can sell anything.
