Hi!
For a while now I have been wondering, what would happen if games like Splinterlands (Steem Monsters) were to stop offering their web services, and just took our money and run with it.
We would still have the cards, but what if anything could we do with them after losing the game itself?
Accursed Farms (on Youtube) makes the case, that almost all games as service are a fraud:
I'm inclined to trust him on this matter, and while it seems that all blockchain based games are games as service, I honestly fear we might have been too trusting on the good will of the designers of such games.
I think we might need some discussion on this, and I sincerely hope that we can one day have a standalone client for Splinterlands and other cryptocurrency-based games.
