Hey everyone, I’m here with another part of my journey through the game Scrutinized. This time I went in more prepared. I talked to my cousin who knows almost everything about the game and he gave me some really helpful tips! So sit back, grab a cup of coffee (or don’t) and enjoy the content!
The first thing I did when I started day 1 was to check the windows. During my first attempt, I thought that if a window was closed, then it was locked. I had no idea that there was an actual lock on the windows you need to flip over. With all the windows secured and the lights all turned on, I made my way to the computer to start the day.
The first report we had was of someone noticing a strange man following a young woman home for the past week. The reporter wasn’t sure if it was anything because the stranger had a fitness tracker on and thought that maybe the reason he was out walking late at night was because he was trying to get his steps in. The reporter also spotted the man jogging in place, talking into the tracker while the woman entered her home. Right away, I knew something was up. Owning a fitness tracker I know that you can take calls through them. So I opened up D.M.V DB and entered the description of the man.
The man’s name was Jimmy Shaw. Now that I had his ID, I went to check if he had a police record. And he didn’t. Wanting to make sure everything was on the up and up around the apartment. I got off the computer and searched the rooms. Everything was fine, no lights were out and all the windows were still closed. With peace of mind, I sat back down at the computer.
The next thing I checked was his cell phone. His cellphone search history was more than suspicious. At first glance you might think it means nothing, but putting everything together spelt out stalker. Looking at his text convos, I immediately knew something was up by the name his contacts were named. There was someone named My #1 Girl, Potential Target, and Victor.
I started off reading the texts from My #1 Girl. And it was clear that Jimmy was a stalker. This girl was his ex-girlfriend, and he had been stalking her. Multiple times she had caught him and told him to stop, but he just wouldn’t listen. So at the very least, I knew we had him on that.
The second convo I looked at was from the Potential Target. It’s clear she has no clue who Jimmy is. Jimmy sent her a warning saying she shouldn’t be walking alone at night and that she was lucky he was in a good mood. The P.T didn’t like this and called Jimmy a Sicko and told him to stay away. Jimmy then began to get angry. However, I knew that nothing in the texts would be concrete enough to stick him with anything.
Last but not least, was Victor. And here is where I hit the jackpot. Victor and Jimmy had some sort of sick game going on that involved them stalking women and doing something to them. It was unclear what they did to them, but I knew it wouldn’t have been anything good. I had in writing, at the very least, the two of them confessing to stalking. So I put the text in the evidence slot and went to submit the report. The only problem was I accidently sent it to the shredder.
Before I began my next report. I did a sweep of the house. Sure enough, some of the lights were off, but I was able to get them back on, and made sure no windows were opened. When that was finished, I sat back down at the computer to do my next case.
I knew right away the next report was going to be a pain. Someone reported that they were woken up by a group of men in the middle of the night. They got a peek at the group of six, but when they turned, the lights on the group ran. The man claimed when he walked outside, he found parts of his golf cart broken off. Entering the information into D.M.V DB, it brought up six names. The only problem with this was that I could only put one of their names in the ID slot of the report.
I started to go through the process of elimination, already figuring I was going to mess up this case. I sorted them out by who had a criminal record. By the end of this process, I had three suspects left. I started to search through their phone records and when I got to the suspect named Anthony Heinemann, I stopped. He had texts from two people, one named Client 23x who was asking if he still offered pet sitting. Anthony replied with he did and if the client had a job for him. The client said yes, and then Anthony asked if he wanted the pet held, or gone. I knew right away what I was dealing with. Anthony was a hit man.
But I knew that these texts could easily be argued against as there was nothing “specific” about him being one, so I decided to read the other text string with someone named as ‘Supplier'. This here is where I thought I hit the jackpot. Anthony was looking to get new blank weapons from the supplier, ones with no serial numbers or paperwork. On top of that, he wanted suppressors. I thought I had him, so I dropped the text into the evidence box, but I was somehow wrong.
Before I could begin my next case, I got a notification saying it was the end of the night. I may have survived this time, but at the end of it all, I felt like I did very little good for this video game world.
