I read the Old Testament and am horrified by how bloodthirsty "God" appears. He seems to take pleasure in killing whenever he can. No one escapes: animals, men, women and children.
Today we are appalled by the terrorist attacks of Islamic fundamentalists and say that they are sick and ruthless, but do we forget that they do it in the name of Allah? The same "God" (or the equivalent) of the Jews and Christians. For us it's wrong, for them it's right. But we also seem to forget that the Israelites killed in the name of the god Jehovah of Hosts, for them it was right, and for us too? What difference is there between Allah and Jehovah? between the motivations of today's Muslims and the Israelites of the Bible?
And what about the Americans and their eagerness to kill people everywhere? We find it ruthless, an abuse on their part and we criticize them. They drop bombs and missiles on towns and communities killing men, women and children and when we see the news in the press or on television we exclaim "for God's sake!" No, they don't do it for "God", but the Jews did it for "Him".
So, it's bad today and it wasn't in the past? What difference does it make? Just because the almighty voice of Jehovah has spoken it? "God" was not a murderer, but Allah, Muslims and Americans are?
Simply contradictory.

Leo el antiguo testamento y quedo horrorizado por lo sanguinario que se presenta "Dios". Pareciera que le da placer matar cada vez que puede. Nadie se escapa: animales, hombres, mujeres y niños.
Hoy nos espantamos con los ataques terroristas de los fundamentalistas islámicos y decimos que son unos enfermos y unos despiadados, pero ¿olvidamos que ellos lo hacen en nombre de Alá? El mismo "Dios" (o el equivalente) de los judíos y cristianos. Para nosotros está mal, para ellos está bien. Pero parece que también olvidamos que los israelitas mataban en nombre del dios Jehová de los Ejércitos, para ellos estaba bien, y ¿para nosotros también? ¿Qué diferencia existe entre Alá y Jehová? ¿entre las motivaciones de los musulmanes de hoy y los israelitas de la Biblia?
¿Y que decir de los norteamericanos y su afán de matar gente donde quiera? Nos parece despiadado, un abuso de su parte y los criticamos. Lanzan bombas y misiles en pueblos y comunidades asesinando hombres, mujeres y niños y cuando vemos la noticia en la prensa o televisión exclamamos "¡por Dios!" No, ellos no lo hacen por "Dios", pero los judíos sí lo hacían por "Él".
Entonces, ¿es malo hoy y no lo era en el pasado? ¿Qué diferencia existe? ¿Solo porque la todopoderosa voz de Jehová lo ha hablado? ¿"Dios" no era un asesino, pero Alá, musulmanes y norteamericanos sí lo son?
Sencillamente contradictorio.
