Where do you get all the money you spend in school, Debbie asked one day and Theresa looked at her with a grimace. It is my money of course. I am not from a poor home, I have money of my own, my father gives me a weekly allowance and it is enough, one to take care of my needs for the week, she said.
Debbie had been surprised during the first term examination when she saw her seatmate bring out chips from under her skirt and copied from. She was alarmed.
Theresa saw that she was shocked but she ignored her and went on with what she was doing. Debbie was sad because she knew her seatmate was cheating.
Why did you have to do that? Debbie asked her later after they had come out of the classroom after that paper. Do what Theresa asked.
You were cheating. You came into the examination with foreign materials and you were copying from it,Debbie acused her.
Theresa laughed, come on Deborah, stop acting like an holier than thou. I only helped myself, there is nothing wrong with that, she said.
Oh yes, there is something wrong with it,Debbie said. You cheated.
Theresa was surprised. People do it everywhere, stop being too prim and proper, she said and walked away. All through that examination, Theresa cheated. Debbie was not happy with her and when she had tried to talk to her about it again, Theresa was not interested in the talk.
