Yes Guys... In our small city of Mangalore, I've seen this plant here and there, by the side of the roads, inside the parks and also in somebody's compounds!. It is Neem!, A much valued medicinal herb!!
Though it is bitter by taste it is a treasures with a lot of good qualities!!
In my childhood, I've seen my Grandparents and Parents applying a paste made with neem leaves or the neem oil, for all types of wounds, right from tips to toe!!.
Nowadays as there are hundreds of medicines available in the medical shops, no one bothers to fetch these leaves or to sit making a paste with it.. :(
I saw this plant in one of my friend's house and soon took these pics with the help of my smartphone Honor...
And this is my contribution for today's colorchallenge - Thursday Green, by ... :)
Let's talk about the good properties of this plant...
At first it is a good medicine for skin ulcers, eczema, ring worm, and other mild skin diseases, if applied with a pinch of turmeric...
The paste can be applied on face to treat anti aging and also black heads.
When mixed with coconut oil, it can be applied to hair, as a great hair tonic, to fight for dandruff...
Neem leaves have a anti bacterial properties, which can work wonders on infections, burns and other skin problems!.
These leaves can also be used for eye disorders, ear boils, bloody nose etc.
The paste of the leaves, if mixed and consumed with Buttermilk is good for stomach upsets, loss of appetite, and lever problems...
It destroys bacteria that causes infection, stimulates the immune system, thus by encouraging rapid healing!.
Recently I came across an article in a local news paper that Neem is good for fighting against cancer too, and can help in healing Breast Cancer.
I came to know from Google that in olden days, these leaves were also used for birth control, to cause abortions!.
So it is always good to have a Neem Tree nearby...
