Hello friends. Let's welcome ourselves to another Round of this wonderful challenge Show Me A Photo. This week's theme is:
Mating Birds
This exciting contest is brought to you by our lovely moderators and

The theme this week is quite fortuitous for me as my last post briefly touched on this subject. Now it is just a matter of expounding it. I posted about chickens roaming our neighborhood and referred to them as street chicken. They would wander through the streets searching for food, oftentimes fighting over bits and pieces of morsels that some of our neighbors leave outside their gates for stray cats and pigeons and other birds. One afternoon I met this mother hen and her chicks and hurriedly took a picture of them.
They're quite scared of people and would immediately scurry away from them if anyone so as made a move towards them. But I followed and continued taking pictures of them. Somehow I had a feeling something was going to happen.
As they rounded the corner, the mother hen's tail suddenly started to bristle as if sensing danger and was about to take flight.
I backed off a little as I thought she was getting scared or irritated with my following her. Just as I backed off and lowered my camera, a rooster suddenly swooped in from nowhere and pinned the mother hen down.
It was so sudden that I just caught the blur of the rooster's lunge. All my late reaction could capture was the pinning down and his mounting of mother hen.
After some moments the rooster's tail suddenly arched upward as if to signal the consummation of their mating ritual.
And just like that they walk away to do whatever they were doing before the call of nature took over them.
And that's it for this Round. I am submitting the second to the last picture which I will call "The Climax" as my entry to the contest.
Thanks for taking the time out to read this. Hope you enjoyed it. Meanwhile, please stay safe and healthy. Good luck to all the other participants. The entries are getting better every week and I am sure our judge is going to have a really hard time. Thanks to our other sponsors Feathered Friends and
