Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content.- Helen Keller
"Happiness" as a topic is one of the things I like speaking about because of the wrong perspective people have about it. We define happiness differently, we seek it in different ways but there are common grounds for everyone when it comes to finding happiness in life.
I will start by saying that Happiness is not free, yes it isn't. If happiness was free, everyone in the world should be happy which isn't the case. The fact remains that there is a price for happiness and these things are what we do to make us happy.
I read a few posts and discovered we all have a few things in common that make us happy. We want to live a good life, take care of our family, stay healthy and others because doing things make us happy. Achieving all these things doesn't come free and the effort we put into making these things possible is the price for your happiness, for my happiness.
For me, True happiness has to do with being content with what I have while I work hard to achieve more.
Without contentment, happiness is unachievable
A lot of people struggle with staying happy because they aren't contented with life, staying contented doesn't mean you are not working to achieve more and it practically means you are happy with where you are at the moment. It might not be where you want but it's the result of your hard work or effort.
True Happiness develops from being contented in life and somehow, it inspires us to go for more in life because it's pure and genuine. It can be challenging to stay contented when you see your peers doing very much better in life but regardless of how these make us feel sometimes, it's not enough to deprive ourselves of happiness.
Life without happiness is something I can't imagine because it's one of the things that makes me productive. Being a writer, my happiness matters since it's the perfect state of mind I need to create content and engage efficiently.
Aside from contentment being the foundation of my happiness, some things make me happy.
Money and happiness work hand in hand, I have heard people say money is the root of evil but that's not for me. I need money to take care of myself, my family and bring my dreams to reality. I have a lot of things that need to be done with money and every dime must be earned legitly. I don't have all the money needed right now but I am contented with the little have got because it's taking care of the responsibilities and bills on me at the moment.
Happiness without good health is practically impossible, it is difficult to preach happiness to someone who is struggling with health challenges and I admire those who still keep their happiness intact despite struggling with a health challenge.
Staying healthy contributes to my happiness and this is one of the things that made my health a priority for me. Resting at the proper time, exercising, and eating good meals all contribute to this and I will continue to practice the habit of staying healthy so I can always be happy as well.
Seeing my family and friends happy is another source of happiness for me so I practically invest in their happiness as well. There are different ways I go about it and that makes me happy as well.
I am not at 100% with all that I mentioned, I don't have it all but being contented makes me feel like I have it all. The power of being contented is really underrated and until a person practices the habit of being contented, it would be hard to understand what happiness truly means.
Being contented, money, friends, family, my health and others give me genuine happiness so I will keep investing in them and working to maintain the happy feeling I derive from them.
