One of the largest collage artworks, taken from the series A Kingdom in Pieces and created almost 14 years ago with my stained glass technique. My inspiration was a one of Leonard da Vinci's famous paintings, Leda and the Swan. I chose it because it was a while since i made a nude and Leda has an amazing form in the painting. Also the swan was a new form i had not used yet and wanted to experiment a little.
A description for the series i wrote back then.
The theme of this series is inspired from religious paintings where the forms and symbols are replaced with those taken from ancient Egyptian theology. The reason of this act is not the revelation that the word of christian religion is based on ideas of older religions but the reminder that these ideas are deeply human and not divine at all.
I think the skin colour was a very bad idea as it darkened the result a lot, i am sure with a brighter one i could have achieved better highlights and shadows. The purple swan came out pretty cool and surreal and the background is an inverted photo of a tree foliage, taken from a past summer holiday. If you check closely you can see some pair of eyes watching.
