Chalk Cliff Sunset

This photograph was taken at Birling Gap in Sussex last year.

This year it would not be possible to take the same picture as the steps down to the beach have been closed off due to cliff falls.

The whole area was closed for one day a few weeks ago while the Coast Guard rescue helicopter, police, Life Boat Service and Fire and Rescue Service all searched the area to make sure there were no caualities from the cliff fall.

It was caused by the long dry period, followed by a few days of rain and then another long dry period.

Cliff falls are common along this particular bit of the coast but this one was especially severe.
