Molly Got Bitten By A Snake
I'm a bit late starting but the Inktober challenge seems an ideal way for me to get back into some sort of creativity. Here's my first effort.
Inktober is designed as a challenge to improve your inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. But I'm rubbish at drawing, have no desire to improve and I'm not a big fan of ink.
However, I think it's worth doing my own version. The fact that I've created anything at all is a big win as far as I'm concerned.
The first prompt - poisonous - was not one that appealed to me and I got really stuck thinking about what I was going to create.
In the end I decided to just start and 'Molly Got Bitten By A Snake' was the result. 😁

The first thing I did was found a page in an old art journal that I could use as a background. This had been used to clean my brushes on.
Then I flicked through an old book, Blackie's Girls'Annual, for some inspiration and found the picture in a story called 'First Aid In Camp'.
The story made me think that the girl on the ground could have been bitten by a snake.
I stuck the picture down with some decorative washi tape with a grass pattern on it.
I choose that particular piece of tissue paper for the snake because the colour from the piece below had bled into it. I thought the mottled effect was perfect for snake skin.😁
I finished it all off by using a silver sequin for the eye, some cotton for the fangs and outlining the page and snake with a black Sharpie pen.
