The old mountain range in South eastern Serbia has no shortage of natural beauty. Some would argue it is the cleanest part of the Balkans. I am of such opinion myself...
Finding my new offroad path to civilization was my main mission this time. What is a boring 15 km ride next to the highway, was to be exchanged with some mountain run. So I have studied some maps and analysed the terrain, to maximize my chances of actually getting somewhere.
The region is very hilly and I've started early and uphill.
Made my way to the very last settlement. It was a point where I wasn't sure which way to go. Luckily to me there was some old guy still living there to give me advice. He knew the way, but warned me that it is a very old unused path. "No worries!", I have replied. I can push my bike if it's too bad. And so I did. One hour for sure I was struggling to find my way back up to get over the horizon. But man, was it worth it. Look at those views...
My bike was serving me well and I was finally on my way down, back to civilization. Needing my weekly supply I stopped over in local kiosk and hade a good laugh over few beers with the locals. Later on my way to bigger store I've even spotted this awesome salamander!
Beers in my belly got pretty heavy and I was really tired pushing my final few kilometers to Pirot, the regional capital. There a burger and cafe kick-started me again and I made it back home in one piece...
All the best,
Global Local
