Happy start of the new week, dear friends on Hive. I hope we all had a lovely weekend, as we look forward to yet another exciting week.
On today's needlework post, I will be sharing with you how I made a beautiful dress for an adorable ogirlsr-old girl. A friend's daughter, if you follow my needlework post, by now you already know how I enjoy making little girl's' dresses;
It's one of my faavrite things to sew.
As it it gives me the chance to get creative the way I like, it doesn't consume much fabric most of the time, and it also takes less time to make. And whenever I have leftovers from previous sewing projects, they most likely end up being used to make pretty little girls' dresses, just like this.
Here, I made a gathered two-step dress with puffy sleeves
Materials used in making the dress are;
Ankara fabric
Gold-colored trimmings
matching coloured thread.
Cutting And Sewing Process
- First, I cut out the upper front and back side of the dress, the front was cut on fold having one piece, while the back has two pattern pieces. I replicated the same pattern on the satin lining pieces as well.
- Next, I joined the front and back by the shoulder area
- Then turned the upper side with the lining fabric neatly in.
For the lower part of the dress, I cut out two flares, with the second flare doubling the length of the first.
I also cut out the inner flare using the lining fabric, then I gathered the hard net on it to give the dress more fullness.
- I gathered the two cut-out flares
- Then sewed them to the upper part of the dress
- I also sewed the lining to the upper lining part.
- Then, I cut out the puffy sleeves pattern, sewed it to both armhole areas of the dress,
- Finally, I sewed the gold trimming on the hem of the lower flare, around the waist and neckline of the dress, finishing it up with a cute mini bow on the side.
That completes the making process of this dress.
