I'm supposed to write about the oldest person in my life right now that is closest to me, I looked around and discovered they are all gone, counting my parents out of course, I don't consider them old yet, so who will I write about, I guess I already made the decision to write about my grandma, rest her soul, she was the oldest person I was ever close to from my birth till her Demise at 87 years.

She was the sweetest soul I ever know, and the prettiest grandma, I like to tease her especially when she allowed me to braid messy cornrows with her long hair, and my mum always got upset whenever she sees the mess I'd created and asked her why she allowed an amateur hairdresser mess with her beautiful hair, don't blame me, I was not blessed with the gift of hair making haha, still she allows me.

She was a strong disciplinarian, even in her old age, she never stopped scolding us when we did something wrong, and the words of advice flowed from there, you had no other choice than to become sober and think about your life afterward, she had that much strength in her words, being a devoted Christian also made her admirable among all, both young and old, she is known as eka Mary mother of Jesus, I'm always called granddaughter of the mother of Jesus whenever I visit the village, due to her kindness and generosity to all who have had an encounter with her. The way people talk about her makes me always want to live my life as a good woman like she was.

During my time with her, there were lots of things I learned from her, like the kind of herbs to take for a common illness instead of spending money on drugs, they have been helpful to date, like when weaning my child, to prevent a painful and engorged bust, we just swallow seven seeds of alligator pepper, I made my research and discovered that there are some properties in this pepper that inhibits lactation, you can see how wise she was even if she has never attended a chemistry or biology class in her lifetime.

The first and only time I ever went to a farm was with her, when we travelled home for the holidays, I miss her food too, all natural and healthy meals,* veggies and very delicious, she knows how much I love vegetable soup, my love for this meal was her making, or when she visits us in Lagos with her plenty natural goodies, or village snacks haha, from roasted termites, corn, sliced and cassava with coconuts, palm nuts, crabs and lots of fruits. I can't remember the last time I had these treats.

I miss her so much, but heaven needs her more, do rest on my beautiful grandma, your baby girl is still here bouncing and ever grateful for all the advice and knowledge you left us.
