Happy New week, Hive, glad to make it to another exciting needlework Monday, I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Mine was spent with my extended family, and I couldn't ask for a better weekend than that, it's been a long while since we had such get together as a family.
For today's post I will sharing with you how I transformed a vintage fabric I have abandoned for a while because truthfully, I didn't like the fabric. After all, it looked faded yet, yet, I didn't have the heart to discard it, so it was just abandoned in my fabric basket till now, when I finally found an urgent use for it.
I realized lately that most of the shorts I usually wear indoors are either tight or worn out, shorts and a blouse or singlet are my go-to comfy indoor clothing, as it makes it easy for me to move around, do my chores withou much hassle, needing to replace my old ones, using this vintage fabric that I never liked now became a good choice, apart from it being faded, it is 100 percent cotton and feels very soft on the skin, ignoring the fade of the original colour, it is still a quality fabric and would last long.
Other materials I used in making the short are an elastic band and thread
Cutting And Sewing Process
- I started by cutting the short front pattern, determining the length, waist, hip, and crotch depth of the shorts.
Next, using the front pattern, I extended it by 2 inches in front before tracing and cutting out the back pattern.
Then I joined the front and back patterns by the center front down to the crotch area.
- Continuing, I joined the front and back shorts by the sides and also by the inseam area.
*I also folded and hemmed the base of the shorts
- Since I added extra allowance to the waist side of the shorts, I will be using the elastic band to reduce it back to my waist size, so I created an elastic case around the waist area of the shorts.
- Then, finally passed an elastic into the case through a small gap I left while folding the casing.
And that completes the making process of my short, shy me, took a few pics lol
