I am currently sitting at rank 107, effective rank 90 - a gain of a few positions since my last update. My server has not encountered any problems and things have been ticking over nicely. I get a block around every 11 hours and have not missed any.
To date my witness has grown my account by 47.76 SP - which makes me happy. This, if turned to a dollar value, has more than paid for my server rental. I didn't do this for the monetary value, more to support the blockchain and this platform, but it is great that I am not out of pocket.
Yesterday came the announcement that there was a potential vulnerability in Steemd that could lead to a denial of service attack in its API and P2P layers. I, along with the other witnesses who call The Writers' Block home, quickly updated our witnesses. The update itself went well but I encountered a problem getting it to restart. After a little tinkering and under the advice of a few fellow witnesses, mine was back up and running in short order. Since updating yesterday afternoon I have witnessed two blocks, so all is well.
Luckily, once set up the server pretty much takes care of itself. I have been ill for the past few weeks with an MS flare up. This affects - among other things - my eyes which, as you can imagine, makes it difficult to read. Nonetheless, I have not neglected my witness duties, checking my server regularly and my price feed, making sure all is as it should be.
