I'm really amazed at how - Whenever this subject comes up... Some Redneck blames those greedy "Burger Flippers" who want $15 an hour!!!
A lot is being said about work place automation these days, and we're really starting to see it's effects.
I did some shopping in my local Wal-Mart the other day (I like to call it China-Mart) and at the time there was one (ONE) checkout lane open, where a live person scanned your items for you. A few months ago as they were installing more self checkout machines I told a checkout person that I would only go to checkout lines with a real person. This is a personal decision, so that I could support the employees there. She looked at me with surprise, and parroted the bulls$%t line that the Company had fed them about how it would "Mean MORE cashiers, and how they had to hire four more employees the other day."
Now it's down to one real live cashier a few months later, and that's only because a machine hasn't been invented yet to "Check your ID" for a cigarette purchase.
I posted a blog here on Steemit four months ago, where I laid out the simple math, that shows a McDonald's worker would have to make less than 24 cents an hour to compete with these jobs!!!

Wendys, Shake Shack, Panera, and a host of other Corporations are jumping on board with this self ordering craze in order to make more money for their executives and stock holders. Here's a prediction for you.... Soon enough, you won't see a real person's face in ANY retail establishment!!!
It's not just the person who takes your order....... Machines will take over back in the Kitchen as well.
While you smugly laugh at those workers who are demanding $15 an hour........ Customer service is leaking out of your life like water poured into the Titanic!!!
This whole push to keep those rotten "Illegals" out of the Country, is creating a shortage of people who are willing to do the back breaking work of picking your lettuce..... Farmers and Agriculture Corporations are scrambling to bring in machines to do that picking. In a few years - Only the Corporations will remain as the FAMILY FARMER IS DRIVEN OUT OF BUSINESS Machines will replace him!!!
THERE WILL BE A WAKE UP CALL IN THE NEAR FUTURE FOR THESE CORPORATIONS!!!!!!!!
When all of the workers have been replaced by machines..... There won't be any customers left with two Nickles to rub together, who can afford to buy anything!!!
I've got friends who think the "Great false god of Government" will fix everything!
They'll do this by simply writing EVERYONE a free check. Except there's one small problem..... There's no free lunch!!! Every penny you spend will become monitored and controlled by bureaucrats!!! If you exceed your monthly allotment of Tampons, you won't be allowed to buy anymore. You'll just have to bleed.
Whenever someone brings up this "Universal Basic Income" idea, I ask "How will you pay for it"? My question is ignored... Answered with the sound of crickets. Our Government is flat broke!!!
As of 06-16-18 at 5:45am. Yes I have to show the specific time, because the Federal debt is growing so fast that by Tomorrow the number will be much different!!! Debt is debt!!! It's owed to someone!!! It MUST be paid back to whomever you borrowed it from!!! We've allowed the lying Politicians to borrow this money in OUR name. Look closely at the "Debt per Taxpayer" number. That's what YOU have to pay back, for allowing them to buy $5,000 hammers on YOUR credit card!!! I don't have it. Do you? Simply writing a check out of thin air, to give everyone a "Universal Basic Income" doesn't work!!! The "Piper" will have to be paid.
